Safety Inductions
To access all machinery and equipment we have on offer, you must complete a series of online safety inductions, followed by an in person practical session. You will be given general health and safety information and instructions for using our machinery. During the practical session you must use each piece of machinery to demonstrate competency and understanding. Upon successful completion we require you sign to say that you agree to what was covered in the induction.

Once you have completed a safety induction we will stamp the back of your UCard which allows you to work in the area. You must have this with you every time you come to the workshop as we will ask to see it.

Safe Operating Procedures
All Machinery and equipment has a set of safe operating procedures associated with it, these are reviewed annually. Safe Operating Procedures are displayed next to fixed machinery and on a notice board for portable equipment.

Risk Assessments
All machinery and procedures have a had a risk assessment undertaken, these are reviewed annually. Every effort is made to eliminate or reduce risk as much as is practical.

Risk assessments can be found here and also on the notice board.

COSHH Risk Assessments
All substances held within the workshop have been fully risk assessed, and are reviewed annually. Where possible substances with substantial risk have been removed from the area.

COSHH Risk assessments can be found on the notice board.

All substances brought in to the area are subject to your completion of a satisfactory risk assessment. Certain items/procedures will also require a risk assessment to be completed before work commences. Original packaging must be supplied.

If you have any questions about suitable substances or procedures, please get in touch before starting your project or purchase anything.
