Green Impact @ George Porter

We have a new recycling system up and running at George Porter Workshops.

Please help us to recycle by leaving all usable off cuts, unwanted materials. If at the end of life, models can be broken back down into components for others to use, please do so.

Of course the flip side to leaving materials for others to use, is of course getting recycled materials for your own project. Please check the racking for anything suitable - as in incentive to participate we are running the scheme with all reused materials for FREE!

Above you can see the new storage ares for your materials, these are located in the Machine Shop at George Porter.

Keep the area tidy, with materials organised in a practical manner and please,  DO NOT store your models here!

New Stock - Acrylic Block

New in for 2015, we have a selection of acrylic block. 

We have a variety of shapes and sizes all individually priced.

Ideal for use on the CNC, or cut, sanded and polished for small scale block models.

December Projects

Just a glimpse of some of the recent 3rd year Architecture group projects that have been constructed at George Porter workshops over the last few weeks. Great work guys!

Christmas Clear Out

Projects are due to finish and the workshop is shutting down for 2 weeks.

During this time we will be having a thorough clear out and tidy up. Anything that is not stored on racking AND clearly labelled to keep will be recycled, reused or disposed of.

Help us to keep your area clean by clearing out both your wanted and unwanted items before closing time Friday.

Copper and Brass Sheet

We now have a new stock of copper sheet on the roll @ a thickness of 0.25mm 

On trial is copper and brass sheet @ a thickness of 0.50mm in various sizes.

CHRISTMAS HOURS

Just so that everyone is aware, here are the Christmas hours for George Porter:

Friday 19th December from 16:00 we are CLOSED until Monday 5th January when we will Re-open at 09:00

After that it is business as usual, so if you need to access the facilities come on down...

Bike Shed at George Porter

A number of you were wondering where you can leave your bikes whilst at the George Porter Workshops.  We have an excellent, safe bike shed here, that is overlooked all day, well lit and offers both covered and uncovered storage.

If you are on your bike, please leave it here as bikes fastened in any other location will be removed.

How to find the bike shed

Step 1...


Come through the gate and past the gate house, turn right around the back of the temporary buildings. You will see a small sign on the wall.

Step 2...


Walk all of the way to the bottom of the building to where the car parking begins 

Step 3...


Turn right again and you will see a footpath leading around the back of the building

Step 4...


Turn right once more and you will see the bike shed in front of you.
